June 2022 Newsletter

Welcome friends! Thank you for signing up for my newsletter and for being a part of my growing community. Each month I will share with you more of my personal journey and things I am learning, teaching, reading, and loving. My hope is that you will find something that speaks to your heart and leads you toward healing and happiness in your own life. Please feel free to share this email with any friends or family who you feel may benefit from it as well.

What I am learning:

Last month I briefly mentioned in the newsletter that I did a Cognomovement session with my friend Coral to help me work through some of my emotional blocks with my voice. Before I met Coral, I had never heard of Cognomovement. When she first explained the practice to me, it reminded me a lot of the EMDR therapy I had done with my therapist years ago. It helps rewire and reconnect pathways in the brain and allows those who practice to increase happiness, reduce stress, and overcome long term fears and struggles. Using a soccer ball with different colors and shapes on it, Coral had me move the ball in different ways as I simultaneously observed the color or shape I saw on the ball. I had some physical sensations arise, like a horrible pain in my back, a tightness in my throat, and a tightness in my neck. Emotional sensations arose as well, like sadness, frustration, and fear. As we continued through, these sensations all resolved and in the end I felt a huge energetic shift in my mind and body. I felt lighter and more peaceful. We also recorded my voice in the beginning, the middle, and after the session and noticed a definite improvement in the quality and sound of my voice after. I love learning about ways we can change unhelpful patterns and thoughts and am constantly amazed at how amazing our bodies and minds are. What a beautiful gift it is to have opportunities to heal from trauma and improve our lives in so many different ways.

What I am teaching:

My 10-day online masterclass “Foundations for a Mindful Life” is available online. It is a self-paced course that can be enrolled in at any time. In this course you will learn simple foundational practices that will invite you to begin living in a more mindful way.

My next session of A Mindful Life Method begins on September 8th. This is a more in-depth 6-week online course that will lead you on a journey of reconnection with yourself that teaches you tools to reduce stress and anxiety in your life.

Every Tuesday morning at 6 am (MST), I teach yoga with one of my dear friends from high school. Each month we choose a theme to focus on and I teach the grounding, breathwork, and savasana (relaxation) portion of the class and Lori teaches the asana or posture portion of class.

Every Wednesday evening at 9 pm MST (please note the change in time), I have an amazing group of ladies that join me for a yoga class with breathwork and guided meditation. We have built a beautiful community of women and I look forward to teaching them each week.

Once a month I host a women’s hiking group for ladies in my local area of Southern Utah. We have had three successful hikes and are looking forward to our next outing on June 11th.

This month on June 25th I will be hosting a mini retreat. Come join me in person from 9am-noon for yoga, meditation, breathwork, connection with other amazing women, and a fresh and delicious lunch.

What I am reading:

With the onset of spring, life on our little property gets very busy. The orchards need cared for, weeds need pulled, and the garden needs planted. I have spent any spare time reading about gardening and ways to improve our crops. I love fresh fruit and vegetables and am always looking for ways to increase our production, lengthen our growing season, and use more organic methods. I read a couple articles on regenerative farming/growing practices and was intrigued about learning more. With the use of so many fertilizers, pesticides, and chemicals there are great effects on our soil, our food, and our bodies. I am looking forward to diving deeper in this area and will share more as I learn. If any of you have knowledge in this area or know of good resources please share!

What I am loving:

I am loving the longer, warmer days and spending more time outdoors. I love watching the earth blossom with flowers and trees and so much beauty. I am loving working alongside my husband to improve our property and love the work that I am privileged to do as a coach as well. I am loving our new golden retriever, Millie and seeing our sweet border collie, Koda learn to share his space with her.
