July 2024 Newsletter
Dear friends,
Thank you for being part of this community! Maybe you join me weekly for yoga, hike with me on our monthly women’s hikes, use my herbal salves, have attended my retreats or coaching courses, or maybe you are just watching and observing what I offer. For whatever reason you are here, I want to sincerely offer my gratitude to you. I hope there is something in this newsletter that may speak to your heart. I always love hearing from you, understanding your challenges, and your happiness, and hearing about the ways you are learning and growing.
What I am learning:
Last month I shared these words “Life gives us so many beautiful opportunities for learning and growth. Our interactions with others can often be some of our greatest teachers. I have found that the lessons I need most continue to unfold when and how I am ready to receive them. I am truly grateful for my family, friends, teachers, clients, and mentors who offer me opportunities for self-reflection and learning.” This past month I have FELT the truth of these words in a most profound way. Life has provided me with beautiful lessons of learning to trust the process and being open to learning from the interactions and relationships that occur each day. I have shared deeply from my heart and felt witnessed and loved by beautiful friends and mentors this past month. In return, I have had the privilege of holding space for deep pain, heartache, and tenderness for several clients and friends. What I have learned from these interactions is that we are all so much more similar than we are different. Most humans desire safety, love, and connection, to be heard and seen in our pain and heartache (as well as in our joy and happiness), and to find meaning and purpose in our lives. Our pain and hurt often prohibit us from allowing this, however, and we distance ourselves or build walls of protection around our hearts, to prevent ourselves from being hurt again. This at times, does offer a temporary safety, yet it also distances us from ourselves and those we most desire to connect with and leaves us feeling sad, anxious, depressed, or lonely. How beautiful it is to connect with someone at a heart level, to witness and be witnessed, to let down the guard around our heart, and truly feel pure love. I am learning and experiencing the power of heart-felt, heart-led interactions and am grateful for all those who have given me a safe space to begin taking down the walls around my heart, brick by brick. I am learning how vital it is that we each have someone in our lives who can offer this safety and connection. Who in your life holds or offers a space like this for you?

I have a great desire to continue gathering women and would love your input and feedback on what topics, trainings, skills, or experiences would be most beneficial for you in your life right now. My ability to hold retreats this year is limited, so I hope to make the 1 or 2 I do offer as impactful as I can. Please share your input and insights to guide me in best meeting your needs.
HIKING:
This month there will be two opportunities to join me on the trail! July 13th will be our regular monthly scheduled hike. We will be hiking Cascade Falls. What I am reading:
My reading last month came in the form of a course on resilience, by one of my dear friends and mentors, Christy Carter. This “Road to Resilience” course was one of the opportunities for learning and growth that unfolded exactly when I needed it. A recent lesson was on optimism and realism and why realistic optimism is vital. I loved these quotes that were shared “Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement; nothing can be done without hope.” -Helen Keller and “Realism is the lens that brings our hope into focus.” -Christy Carter. Would you say you are more of a realist, an optimist, or a realistic optimist?
What I am loving:
Last month I had the opportunity to travel to Vancouver Island with my husband and some dear friends. The main purpose of the trip was a fishing expedition off of Port Hardy at the northern end of the island. For me, however, what I loved most was the opportunity to travel and see the beauty of the area. My favorite stop was the Butchart Gardens in Victoria. I especially loved learning about Jennie Butchart’s vision and efforts to create something beautiful from the ugly, barren limestone quarry on their estate. Though Jenny was a chemist and did not know much about gardening, she brought in experts and began to learn all she could about plants and landscaping. Her drive, determination, and desire to create and share beauty was so incredibly inspiring to me. I love witnessing efforts to bring more beauty, love, and connection into the world and feel a renewed determination to create and share light and beauty with those around me. What is something that you love or that inspires you to create and share your light with those around you?
Sending you all love and light,
♥️Jessica
